Objectives: These lessons outline the current standards and practices in effect with respect to the lettering and marking of interchange freight cars. These standards specify: what information is to be shown; the format for displaying that information; where the information is to be displayed; the size of the letters and numerals to be used; and what optional information may be included, and the suggested sizes and locations for that information.
Audience: Car stencilers, carmen, those responsible for making repairs to cars or otherwise responsible for correctly lettering and marking cars.
